This ongoing series of juried exhibitions, presented in alternate years, highlights work by both emerging and established artists associated with the state of Maine. Every other year, more than 800 artists submit applications, with approximately 65 accepted by a jury of three leading figures in the contemporary art world. Jurors for the 2005 Biennial are: John Cheim, of Cheim & Read Gallery in New York; Yvonne Jacquette, nationally recognized artist; and Judith Tannenbaum, Curator of Contemporary Art at the Museum of Art, Rhode Island School of Design. The Biennial is open to works in all media, and works selected may include paintings, photographs, works on paper, furniture, sculpture, video, and installation art. ...
